How to get AI to recommend your HVAC business
AI recommends the heating and air companies whose websites and listings answer the season's questions: who can fix a furnace tonight, who installs heat pumps, what a new system costs and whether there is financing. Cover heating and cooling on separate pages, keep your Business Profile current and get reviewed on the sites AI cites.
HVAC questions swing with the weather. The same homeowner who asked about a tune-up in April asks for an emergency repair in a heat wave, and the company AI names is the one that already answered both.
Reviewed October 15, 2026. AI answers change from day to day.
What customers ask AI
These come from the panel NamedTest uses for heating and air companies. Notice how many name a piece of equipment or a season. A site that talks only about "comfort solutions" gives AI nothing to match them to.
- Urgent
- I need emergency HVAC repair in your city right now. Who should I call?
- My air conditioner stopped working in your neighborhood. Which HVAC company can come today?
- Price
- How much does furnace repair cost in your city, and which HVAC companies charge fair prices?
- Who is the most affordable HVAC company near your neighborhood?
- Trust and reviews
- Who is the most trusted HVAC company in your city?
- Which heating and cooling companies in your city have the best reviews?
- A specific service
- Which HVAC company in your city is best for furnace repair?
- I need furnace repair in your neighborhood. Which local HVAC company do you recommend?
What AI cited in St. Louis
In October 2026, we asked 10 questions from this panel about St. Louis on Perplexity and Gemini (model knowledge). The 20 answers named 29 different heating and air companies, and the 6 named most held 51% of all mentions.
10 answers cited sources. Apart from the named heating and air companies' own websites, the sites they cited most were these, with the number of answers citing each:
- aireserv.com (5)
- carrier.com (4)
- todayshomeowner.com (4)
Of the 6 named most, 4 were named by every tool we asked, 6 had their own website among the cited sources, and AI gave a website for 6. Among them, 6 came up for urgent questions and 4 for questions about trust and reviews.
When an equipment maker or a home improvement publisher is on that list, it is a source you can get onto. A manufacturer's dealer locator listing you, or a local article quoting you about a heat wave, is a citation AI can follow back to your company.

What to fix, in order
Split heating and cooling into their own pages
Write a furnace repair page and an air conditioner repair page, each with the towns you cover and how fast you usually arrive. Add a no-heat and no-cool emergency page with your after-hours number at the top. AI matches the question to the page, so one combined "HVAC services" page loses to a competitor's specific one.
Give each installation and repair service a page
Our heating and air questions name these services, and each is a search a homeowner makes:
- furnace repair
- furnace installation
- air conditioner repair
- air conditioner installation
- heat pump repair
- heat pump installation
- ductwork repair
- duct cleaning
- thermostat installation
- HVAC maintenance
On the installation pages, say which brands you install and how the price is set. On the repair pages, say what a diagnostic visit costs.
Get on your manufacturers' dealer lists
If you are an authorized dealer for an equipment brand, make sure the maker's dealer locator shows your current name, phone and website. These pages are public, so AI tools can read them. Then say the same thing on your own site.
Set your Business Profile for both seasons
Choose HVAC contractor or the closest heating and air category as primary, add heating contractor and air conditioning repair as secondary if you do that work, and list each service. Post a short update when the season turns, such as furnace tune-up openings in the fall.
Explain financing and rebates in plain words
Replacement questions often ask who offers financing. If you do, give it a page with the terms in plain words and any utility rebates customers can claim through you. A financing badge alone is not text AI can read.
Check your site's markup and crawler rules
Use the AI crawler checker to confirm AI tools can read your site, and the schema generator to add HVACBusiness markup with your service area.
Ask for reviews after the hard jobs
The review a family writes after you got their heat back on at midnight is the one that answers "who can come tonight". Text the review link before you leave the driveway, and reply to each review naming the repair.
Line up your Meta profiles with your website
Your Instagram business profile and Facebook Page are Meta's own record of your company, and Muse, Meta's AI agent (Meta describes Muse here), may use them. Meta hasn't stated which sources Muse relies on, so treat this as tidying, not a ranking trick. Copy the name, address, phone, seasonal hours, site URL and services exactly as they read on your website and Google Business Profile. Update all of them together when your summer or winter hours change.
Questions heating and air companies ask us
Does AI treat heating and cooling as one trade or two?
Customers ask both ways, so cover both. Someone with a dead furnace in January asks for heating repair, and someone sweating in July asks about air conditioning. Name both on your home page, in your Business Profile categories and in separate service pages.
Will listing the equipment brands I install help?
It can. Customers often ask AI who installs or services a named brand, and a page that says which brands you work on, and whether you are a dealer, gives the answer a reason to name you. Only list brands you really carry.
Should I publish prices for a new system?
A typical range with what changes it, such as home size, ductwork and efficiency rating, is enough. Customers ask AI what a replacement costs before they call anyone, and a page that answers it is a page AI can quote.
Do maintenance plans matter for AI answers?
They give you a page that answers tune-up and maintenance questions, which come up year round between the busy seasons. Say what the plan includes, how often you visit and the price.
