How to get AI to recommend your dental business
AI names the dental practices that answer a patient's real question: are you taking new patients, do you take my insurance, can you see me today for this toothache, and who does implants. Put those answers on your site in plain words, keep your health directory profiles current and earn reviews that mention the visit.
A patient choosing a dentist is choosing a person they will see for years. They ask AI more trust questions than a homeowner hiring a plumber, and the answers lean on reviews and on what a practice says about its dentists.

What customers ask AI
These come from the panel NamedTest uses for dentists. Price questions here are really insurance questions, and the urgent ones are about pain. A practice that answers both on its site is easy for AI to recommend.
- Urgent
- I need an emergency dentist in your city right now. Who should I call?
- I have a bad toothache in your neighborhood. Which dentist can see me today?
- Price
- How much do dental implants cost in your city, and which dentists charge fair prices?
- Who is the most affordable dentist near your neighborhood?
- Trust and reviews
- Who is the most trusted dentist in your city?
- Which dentists in your city have the best reviews?
- A specific service
- Which dental practice in your city is best for dental implants?
- I need dental implants in your neighborhood. Which local dentist do you recommend?
What AI cited in St. Louis
In October 2026, we asked 10 questions from this panel about St. Louis on Perplexity and Gemini (model knowledge). The 20 answers named 56 different dentists, and the 6 named most held 26% of all mentions.
10 answers cited sources. Apart from the named dentists' own websites, the sites they cited most were these, with the number of answers citing each:
- doctor.webmd.com (3)
- saintlouisdentalstudio.com (3)
- smilegeneration.com (3)
- biglove.to (2)
- buoyhealth.com (2)
- crestwooddental.com (2)
Of the 6 named most, 4 were named by every tool we asked, 3 had their own website among the cited sources, and AI gave a website for 5. Among them, 4 came up for urgent questions and 2 for questions about trust and reviews.
For a practice, that list points to two kinds of work. Health directories need a complete profile for each dentist, and general review sites need fresh reviews. Where a list shows other practices' websites, their pages on a service are what AI quoted, so compare yours with theirs.
Data as of October 14, 2026. See every answer on the St. Louis dentists index page.
What to fix, in order
Say you are taking new patients, and how
Put it on the home page in words, not a banner image: whether you are accepting new patients, how soon the next opening is, and how to book. Add it to your Business Profile as well, and update both when it changes.
Publish an insurance page with every plan by name
List each plan you accept by its exact name, say how you bill plans outside your network, and add your options for patients without insurance, such as a membership plan. This one page answers most of the price questions patients ask AI.
Write an emergency dental page
Toothaches, broken teeth and swelling bring urgent questions. Say whether you hold same day emergency slots, what to do after hours, and the number to call. Mark your hours carefully in your Business Profile so AI does not send a patient in pain to a closed office.
Give each treatment its own page
Our dental questions ask about these treatments by name:
- teeth cleaning
- dental implants
- teeth whitening
- root canals
- crowns
- Invisalign
- veneers
- tooth extraction
- dentures
- children's dentistry
On each page, say who at the practice does it, what the visit involves and roughly what it costs with and without insurance.
Keep health directory profiles in step
Claim your practice and every dentist on the health and booking directories AI cites for your city. Make the practice name, address, phone and specialties match your website exactly, including the suite number.
Mark up the practice and check crawler access
Add Dentist markup with the schema generator, and run the AI crawler checker. Booking widgets and patient portals sometimes come with robots rules that block more of the site than intended.
Ask for reviews at checkout
Hand the patient a card with a QR code or text them the link after the visit. Reviews that mention a nervous patient put at ease, or a crown done in one visit, answer the trust questions in your own patients' words.
Keep the practice's Facebook and Instagram in step
Patients scroll Instagram and Facebook too, and Meta now offers Muse, its personal AI agent (Muse, on Meta's site). What Muse consults for practice information is something Meta has kept to itself so far, and we make no claim that tidy profiles move patients toward you. Meta's assistant could read them, though. Give the Page and the Instagram account the same practice name, office address, phone, office hours, website and services that appear on your Google Business Profile and your own site.
Questions dentists ask us
Which insurance plans should I list on my site?
Every plan you are in network with, by its exact name, on one page, plus a line on how you handle plans you are not in network with. Patients ask AI which dentists take their insurance, and a vague "most plans accepted" cannot answer that.
Do health directories matter more than general ones for dentists?
Both count. Health and doctor directories are built for patients choosing a dentist, and general review sites are where many patients leave reviews. Keep your profile on each one current, with the same practice name and every dentist at the practice listed.
Should each dentist at the practice have a page?
Yes. Patients ask for a dentist by name, by specialty and by how gentle they are with nervous patients. A short page per dentist with their training, what they focus on and the languages they speak gives AI a person to recommend, not just a building.
Can I use patient testimonials on my site?
Reviews on Google and other sites carry more weight with AI than quotes on your own page. If you quote patients, get their written consent first and follow the privacy rules that apply to your practice.
