What the most-named plumbers have in common

4 of the 6 were named by both Perplexity and Gemini. The rest were named by one tool only, which is common: the tools search and remember differently.

5 of the 6 had their own website among the sources the answers cited, and AI gave a website for 6 of them.

By the kind of question: 5 of them came up for urgent requests, 4 for questions about price, 4 for questions about trust and reviews, and 1 for questions about a specific service.

How we measured this

We asked 10 questions a customer might ask about plumbers in Columbus, OH, once on each AI tool, through each tool's official API. For example:

  • I need an emergency plumber in Columbus, OH right now. Who should I call?
  • Who is the most trusted plumber in Columbus, OH?
  • Which plumbing company in Columbus, OH is best for water heater repair?

Perplexity searches the web and shows its sources. Gemini (model knowledge) answers without a web search, from what the model learned in training, so its picks can be out of date. A language model read each answer and listed the businesses it named, and a business counts once per answer. These results describe what AI said on these dates. They are not a rating of any business's work.

Data as of October 21, 2026.
