What llms.txt does, and what it does not
llms.txt is a proposal from llmstxt.org: a markdown file at your site's root with your name, a short summary and links to the pages that matter. It is easy to add and costs nothing.
No AI company we know of has said it reads llms.txt, and Google says no AI text files are needed for its AI features (Google Search Central). Treat it as a small extra after the steps that matter more: listings, your Business Profile, crawler access and clear service pages, all in the main guide. Checked October 15, 2026.
To publish it, save the text as llms.txt and upload it so it opens at yoursite.com/llms.txt. Most hosts and site builders let you upload a file to the root folder.
